Memo

To:       All Students

From:  Student Development

Date:  5/10/2007

Re:      New Policy for Use of College Network/Intranet for Gaming

This memo is to inform you of a new policy regarding the use of the College network/intranet for gaming that will be instituted immediately.

It has been determined that gamers have been severely abusing the privilege of access to the College network.  This behavior has included pornographic, vulgar, demeaning, and racist gamer tags, conduct, and verbal exchanges between members of our College community while engaged in gaming.  Because of these recent events, the College will be suspending all network gaming privileges for the remainder of the academic year.

While this behavior is a reflection of deeper issues, and not a direct result of participating in gaming, gaming is the forum within which this behavior has been taking place.  The College will not tolerate this type of behavior in any arena, including within the context of its intranet.  For this reason, the College is temporarily suspending gaming privileges.  Those who have continuously engaged in this type of behavior will be held accountable for their actions on an individual basis where possible.  Those who have not been involved will be allowed to resume certain gaming at the beginning of the next academic school year under new guidelines which will govern network gaming behavior.  Unfortunately, the actions of a small minority are impacting the whole of the community.  This is an unfortunate but necessary step in maintaining a God-honoring, Christ-like community here at Northwestern.

The most effective way for students to address these issues, and similar issues, and to avoid the loss of future network gaming privileges is peer accountability.  Network use for gaming is indeed a privilege and will be suspended on a corporate level or a personal level as the College deems appropriate.

At the beginning of the 2007-08 academic school year, students will be required to sign a contract and uphold the stipulations of that contract in order to maintain their network gaming privileges.  The contract will hold each person accountable to behaving in a responsible and Christ-like manner in the realm of network gaming.  It will outline expectations for behavior, language and interaction as well as requirements for the type of hardware and software used for gaming purposes.
stions.

Well, Josh is severely busy, but ok, but wants less busy and more friends. Josh has been babysitting little sister to make money for tuition and books and enjoys time spent with said sister. Josh have family coming as he prepares to leave back to college which will be interesting and cut back on friend time, but is good to see family. Josh has had a nice suprise involving a festy, secrets share, female, and happines (no more explination, because josh just doesn't (and he doesn't know)).
However in more important news Josh has narrowed down his college search to 5 colleges: U of Arizona, U of Oregon, U of Michegan, U of Hawaii, U of Colorado, and U of Minnesota, no 6 colleges. "Fear, suprise, and an almost fantical devotion to the pope" (brownie points if you can name where thats from). But yeah, Josh has no idea whats going to happen after he finishes the semester in May, NONE. Josh is okay with that though. It makes for interesting suprises. Josh is going to apply to all those colleges and see what doors open up.

Ps. Dont ask Josh why he wrote this in third person, he doesn't know that either, but he guesses it has something to do with being mentally unstable

Hey, y'all I believe its time for my monthly posting. I am able to write again because college is no longer consuming my time and scrambling my brains with "learning." so yeah, college has been tough. I dont think I'm terribly good at it. I don't much like the college. Way to christiany for me. Planning to transfer next year. Definitely going to transfer. I decided that I needed to have a really good reason to be going through this college krap of waking up at 8 in the morning and trying to comprehend someone speaking at me or writing 15 page papers. And I realize the only academic thing that would hold my interest is Japanese(I loved going to Japan this suumer. I fell in love, with Japan). So I'm planning to major in Japanese and something else. THe only schools that have Japanese are state schools. The top place so far are Hawaii, because I want to be someplace warm. The other is Oregon state, since it has a program for Landscape Architecture. My apptitude test said I would be a good architect but thats just way too much math for me. I was thinking of taking a year off, but Its not looking like such a good idea now. So I'm going to spend much of my winter break doing the college thing (and working so I can get enough money for books and rent, etc.) So yeah, still having that no-Fing-clue-what-I'm-doing-with -my-life feeling.
Anyway. I am a little more rested, and I'm gald to be back in MN with friends. I just fell in love with a new series called firefly (I <3 Mal). I was over at Ariels most of the day, and that was fun. I'm just wondering what I'm going to do with my New Years Eve. No plans as of yet (anyone having an awsome party?).
So yeah, thats the major highlights of my life right now. I did have a good Xmas with family and all. Though I found out something rather sad. I stayed at Kim's house in IL and had more fun and fealt more relaxed hanging out with her family than I did with mine. To quote kim: "Your parents are nice, very nice. They're just very narrow minded."

yay! time for Josh's monthly update of life in college
Well now that I have finnally gotten more over this transition to the thing called college. I decided I should probably inform the few that wonder: "where the krap did Josh go?" where I went. College! In-the-Middle-of-Nowhere, NY. aka houghton. quick updates, for all those that dont know, I now have a short mohawk. I should post pictures sometime... I also have scruff because I'm participating in 'No Shave November." as to how life is actually going I had a nice little synompsis while talking to Kim. And it went a little like this:

(I'm Sandman, The other is Kim)
-Sandman says:
I'm tired and have little sleep and am stressed out
-Sandman says:
and hate being here
-Sandman says:
and failed a test today
-Sandman says:

Yes, I am alive. No, I wasn't in the hospital, sanitarium, crack house, lost in the woods, Tokyo US embassy, or a ditch in the middle of pittsburg. I have just been busy. So busy I cant remember what has happened more than usual.
So, I haven't posted since I went away to college. A bad way to start out is by leaving a bag in the airport that contains your wireless headphones, all your posters, and about 90% of your Magic cards. I was so pissed.
Anyway, I went on this cool thing called highlanders, where they take all your electronics (watch included) and extra food and stick you in the middle of the forest with about 7 other people, and two leader. Overall it was a pretty cool experience, I made a few good friends on that trip. (more stories on request).
So after that I arrived at school and had about 2 days to set up EVERYTHING for my college. Gahhh! so much stress. plus theres the whole, getting class and schedule and homework together. Then being in a competley now place and making a whole new life. There have been positives, but mostly a mountain of stress.
There are so many things I wante to write about. well the main thing is all the activities I joined: Ultimate frisbee team, Kayak club, Ultimate frisbee team, Rock climbing club, International student club, I'm going to be trying out for Othello (maybe), I am the photographer for the nespaper here (STAR), I'm also really happy that I found the guy for the Kendo club, AND theres a Fencing club, W00T W00T!1! also have a job.
But yeah, need to work on procrastination and organazation. Having to go to a chapel every monday tuesday and wednessday is getting really annoying. Thank god its only mandatory for 2/3 of the year. Honestly being in a christian college is really safe, but also really, really boring.
I did get some awsome posters for my room.
Right now I'm listening to techno and I so want to bust out some glowsticks and rave so bad! but nooooo, this freaking school has banned dancing. *grumblesbackwardsgrumblebakagrumblelegalisticgrumble**^%#@%^%#@@$%#$%^$#@$^%&*%grumblegrumble*
Josh sososososososo wants to rave *whimper*
I will instead go back to my room and play DDR
so until next time (who knows when that will be)
Forever and eternally

Its true, I have been packing my life into a box. And I am planning to leave, FOREVER! AHHHHHH, just kidding only for a bit. Anyway, its exciting and stressful. but I really wish I could have seen my friends more. I am planning a farewell party wednesday sometime, more on that to come. I realized tonight how much I love helping people. A girl I met at NSC cup knows I'm going into psychology and all, and asks if I plan to be a shrink or something. I ask why and she asks if I know anything about relationships, i says a little. Then we go into an hour long conversation about a boy and her situation. She said I helped her a lot, which really made me feel good. This is why I like listening to people and thier problems, I like to help people.
Anywho, here's my travle plans:
I leave this thursday for college
Nov 23-27, Wed-Sun                   Thanksgiving recess (maybe)
Dec 16-Jan 10, Fri-Tu Winter break
Feb 25-Mar 5, Sat.-Sun.               February break
May 9, Tuesday                            Semester ends

Well I haven't updated this thing in FOREVER. Sorry y'all, I've just been very uber busy.
I was off in Japan, which was Fantasta-super-awsome. The best day by far was the day I spent on the mountain. It was an over cast day and we approached the mountain by over the lake on a cruise ship. Aftre we all disembarked, we crouded on a gondala up the mountain. The view was, to use indequite words, breath-takingly beautiful. The mountains and clouds surrounding me. The clouds seem to muffle the sound, so there was a serene sense of silence that was overwhelming, in a good way. There was also this Shinto shrine up there wich made it quintisential. I wanted to stay there forever, I wanted to put a shack up on the nex t hill (too many tourists on this one). I seriously fell in love with that mountain top. Anyway, the rest of japan was fun too. There were some awsome people on the trip, I even got to watch anime ^_^ I had a few first-time experiences in Tokyo, and I bought a Kimono. Shinai and Boken were too expensive, so sadly I didn't get one. I got some awsome other stuff, stop by my house when I'm never here to come and see it.
I'm not home at all this summer. Infact I leave this saturday and come back on the 8th or something. I'm going to Colorado with my EMT class for Wilderness First Aid training, its going to be a blast. all the people are really cool. But I miss relaxing and just chilling with my friends. I have seen most of the people I really want to see when I'm back. But theres still a few I have missed.
I hope to be getting some of my pictures from summer, and some other art things on Deviant soon. But my POS computer is a big hinderance.
I'm going to have to write a journal entry about moving and how much it hurts to leave friends behind. There is one girl I'm getting really close to right now, but it's really sad, seeing I'm leaving to college and all. It is nice to go through the stuff in your toom and get rid of junk. It's... cleansing, and stressful.
To let everyone know, after I get back from CO I leave about the 11th or so for michigan for me G'ma's Bday/familly reunion. then I leave for college, and 2 week cannoeing/hiking/get-to-know-people-in-your-class thing. It should be fun. but yeah. I barely have time left here with my friends. I really wont miss my home or my family, because I have no home and my friends are my family. On that note, I say goodbye, till deep thoughts stir in my head again. and I actually have time to sit my ass in a computer and type them out.

PS
SJ- sorry bout the movie, try again? = )
Ariel- wanna go joggin friday morning
Sara (in GA) I'll try and call soon
Maxx-We totally have to try that business idea!

Konechiwa kara Nihon,
I'm having a great time here, except the keyboard is really weird.
*nerd alert*
I can't believe I'm in Japan! This is so much Fun! I just finished playing GO while watching Full metal alchemist. I love nerds xD There are a whole bunch on this trip, its awsome. Its actaully kinda sad, half the time when I look at scenery I'm reminded of animes. They even have anime at convenience stores! I love Japan. Now if I could only read japanese!
*nerd alert*
I got a kimone for my self =D I've spent way more than I expected this trip、everything is so expensive. We've seen a lot of cool castles and temples. I'm taking a lot of pictures again. I also saw Misa, the exchange student, that turned out to be a fiasco. We'ree going to see Hiro later.
I really love this place. It is kinda humid, but the places make up for it. It is either very modern or very unmodern. The cities are stunning; clean, efficient and cramped. I wish we had good trains back in the US, its so nice.

thats right peoples. I am back at my house. and man is it weird. but first the journey home:
I stayed up the whole day before my flight because it was at 5:30 am and we had to leave the hotel at 3 am so I really didn't see the point in going to sleep. So I watched animal planet and history chanel for a good 5 hours =) On my flight from amsterdam to chicago about an hour and a half over the atlantic they announced that there was a problem with the hydrolics and they had to turn back. They even dumped fuel over the ocean. When we landed we had an hour to get to our next flight. Then in Chicago we had another hour to get to our next flight. So it wasn't too bad, but it was still exhausting. When I got home walked downstairs and fell straight asleep.
it was weird to wake up this morning. When I looked outside I saw a wet and green land. it was so strange from the dry, tan, and dusty sights of Israel. I had no idea it was even sunday, thats how screwed up my inner clock is.
I miss my friends! I totally want to do something with everyone! but I'm going to be so busy. Which is a good and bad thing. I guess thats the price of not being bored.

This time I'm typing from Poriyya, the town I grew up in. Its near Tiberius on the NW side of the Sea of Gali The place has changed a lot, the people here haven't changed too much. Althought there has been too much "I remember you when you were this high, you've changed so much." I'm back to the digging in dirt again, finding things from bible times. its interesting, yes and no. I'm in a really wierd mood. completeley truthful. I miss friends back home.

Hello every one from Israel. Its been a hot and tiring, but fun experience so far. First week I was at an archelogical dig at Beth-seida and met some fun and crazy people. I arrived with my dad, his Colleague Dr. Muska, and his Daughter Katie. Katie is my age and we've become friends, which is nice when your stuck with two proffesors. After a few days of digging in the dirt and uncovering old stuff, We picked up the rest of my family minus becca who is staying with our aunt. We our now in Jerusalem and have walked around seeing old things.
I'm being a little sarcastic because I'm tired and a little cranky from walking around for three days with my familly. plus I cant remember my aim password and talk to people with and thats really pissing me off.
but I have done cool things like walk through a 1/3 mile long tunnel of water called hezakia's tunnel. It was a little scary at first but it became and adventure = ) I would make a good scout. We also have run into a lot of my parents friends.
I'm in a smoky internet cafe in the middle of old jerusalem, its kinda strange. and I mis y'all! lots!
well I g2g, I'll ttyl.

WEeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllll, I'm back. You might ask, 'where did Josh go?' I didn't tell many people but I drove down to ILL saturday (all by myself, and I only got lost two or three times.) It was Kim's Grad party and I really wanted to go, but my mom was being annoying and worisome >=/ So I drove about 8 hours both ways, I came back up today (tuesday). I had a blast, Kim's family is nuts (specially with a little alchohol) so sat night I hid in the basement with Jori while Karoke was sung. Jori's pretty cool, glad I met her. Then saturday I hung around and then went to her G-grama's funeral type thing, which was more of a family reunion, and a fun thing (really good steak). It got kinda serious when the ashes were spread, and they planted a tree. Overall it was fun though. Plus, I got offered an internship next year! One of Kimmy's aunts works at a political watch dog type organazation, she encouraged me to do it. it sounds cool.
Ne who, so I'm back, and alive after traveling 840+ miles. Tommorow is my gradumatation party, hope to see y'all there. Then its gradumatation on thursday, all knight party, then human chess, and then leaving for Israel. I have a very travelsome summer check this out:

Sooooo I kinda haven't updated in here for a very long time. I blame it on school and its abillity to turn my brain into something that resembles mashed potatoes. SO yeah, I had finals, that sucked. I'm done with high school. that rocks, on so many levels. Speaking of which, you are all (everyone who reads this) cordjially invited to:

Subject:AWSOME WEEK!
Security:Public
Mood: SUPER-DUPER AWSOME
Music:TFK - Phenomenon

So I've had an awesome week. There was OEC camp where the highlights were going polar bearing in the lake with out adult consent, jumping off a 30 foot pole, doing ambulance runs, raving w/ glowsticks at the dance, making new friends, foosballin' and being sleep deprived. We had awesome speakers that really made me think. I even demoed some of my gymnastic skills for a talent show. Oh, and special thanks to Dave for grabbing me some breakfast when I overslept. I will always remember that. But what I really miss is the sense of community; we are all a little odd in that group. Everyone is there because they want to push themselves, and be a caring person. It’s a really awesome group of people.
Then on Tuesday I watched a movie in Japan club called Tempopo. It was weird and cool. It was all about this one lady trying to be a good ramen chef, and a cowboy dude that was helping her. It was a good movie. Then Mr. Schield says: "we should go to a noodle place I know of downtown, it's called Tempopo": and we (three people at Japan club (Star)) are like cool. Then as we were walking out we saw a dandelion on the floor and you know what dandelion in Japanese is? Tempopo. It was so weird.
So we watched Tempopo, found a Tempopo, and ate at Tempopo. It was an awesome day.
Then today (technically yesterday), after school Maxx interviewed me about my beliefs, which was kind of fun, but I think it wasn't a really great interview. We went to a smoothie shop, and had some rockin’ smoothies though (thanks again Max for the beverage). Then we dropped Max off, and Roxxi and I went to hot topic to find rings for me ears, but we found out Claire’s had better rings for the ears. Then I had an awesome study session (that wasn't a euphemism or innuendo) at Roxxi's. We made this Kickass Ramen with carrots, onion, ham and some artichokes, Roxxi added some spices, and it rocked my s0xx off. Roxxi and I are awesome ramen chef's we should have a stand or something. Then we made shoe ramen, and that will have its own life. And I actually got a good deal of studying in. (Roxxi your awesome! and I <3 j00)
So basically my Thursday to Wednesday have rocked, and I have no intention of having a non-awesome day tomorrow. I'm going to see Rae-chan ^_^
